A 16th-century thatched cottage surrounded by astonishing countryside within 2 miles of Hartland Abbey. Boasting easy access to the South West Coast Path, this dog-friendly cottage features a large lounge/diner, an indoor heating swimming pool and two separate gardens. It is perfect for large families or groups celebrating a special occasion and is close to the timeless villages and beaches scattered across the Hartland Heritage Coast.

Set off a quiet country road in the hamlet of Stoke, the Grade II-listed property has lost none of its original charm in catering for contemporary guests, with exposed beams and low ceilings in some areas underscoring its unique character. The two-storey cottage is blessed with a blend of rustic soft furnishings in soothing colours that peppered hardwood and tiled floors. The lounge/diner is one of its most comfortable spaces, home to a wood burner set in the original fireplace and surrounded by plump sofas. A large dining table and chairs sit at the other end of the room, only a few pawprints away from a rectangular kitchen. The nearby snug room is great for peace and quiet. The double and twin bedrooms on the ground floor are served by two shower rooms, perfect for those guests with mobility issues. The first floor is home to three inviting bedrooms – a double, a single and a second double with an additional single bed. A handy bathroom stands close by. The attractive outside space is split between an enclosed courtyard garden at the front and a decked area and a lawn at the rear. The decked area leads to a private indoor heated swimming pool and there is also a games room with a utility area nearby.

The cottage is within 1 mile of the South West Coast Path, a haven for walkers who can absorb attractions lining the rugged headlands including Hartland Quay. Hartland (2 miles) is great for a pint, a family meal or essentials. The vibrant seaside town of Bude (15 miles) offers sandy beaches galore.
