On a wet afternoon, there’s plenty of shared on-site leisure facilities to keep you entertained: take a dip in the heated indoor pool, steam away in the sauna or play table tennis and darts in the games room.

Inside, the unfussy open-plan living area is neatly arranged around a feature staircase that leads up to two comfortable bedrooms, while exposed beams add to the character of this traditional cottage. When you need to recharge your batteries, settle down in front of the warming wood burner effect electric fire with a good book and steaming mug of coffee. When it comes to mealtimes, enjoy good food and good company around the dining table or step outside into the enclosed garden to enjoy a sizzling BBQ, with strawberries and cream for afters.

Explore spectacular coastal scenery on walks along the South West Coast Path, with its rocky coves and cliff waterfalls, and watch the waves crash against the shore at Hartland Quay (4 miles), one of the wildest parts of Devon. The family-friendly beach at Westward Ho! (12 miles) is safe for swimming and water sports, while the famous fishing village of Clovelly (3 miles) is a lovely place to spend an afternoon. Or why not catch a ferry from Bideford Quay (13 miles) out to Lundy, a beautiful 3-mile wide island in the Bristol Channel known for its puffin population?
