Across the estuary, Instow offers a sandy beach and quality eateries; a ferry crosses to Instow from Appledore quay during the summer months. Westward Ho!, with its long sandy beach, Atlantic surf and seafront with lively amusements is only 3 miles away or golfers might like to play a round at The Royal North Devon Golf Club (2 miles), an historic course that stretches out across the Northam Burrows.
