The property overlooks Cartmel Racecourse, so it's the perfect base for a fun-filled day at the races. Further afield, enjoy day trips to the coastal resort of Grange-over-Sands (3 miles) or Lake Windermere (6 miles). In the evening, sip a sundowner in your private summerhouse.

The cottage has been lovingly renovated to preserve its original features, and it's full of homely touches to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The ground floor has an open-plan layout comprising a lounge/kitchen/diner. Spend time here, testing new recipes in the chic kitchen area, sharing delicious meals at the dining table or breakfast bar, and snuggling up on the sofa in the front of the roaring wood burner. Upstairs, an inviting double bedroom, with views over the racecourse, provides the perfect place for a good night's rest. A stylish shower room rounds off the accommodation. Outside, a tranquil haven awaits in the enclosed patio garden. Dine alfresco in the sunshine, or grab your favourite book and retreat to the summerhouse for a relaxing couple of hours.

Cartmel is a bustling village with a fantastic range of eateries, from fine dining restaurants to cute cafes. Cartmel is renowned for its delicious sticky toffee pudding, which can be found on virtually every menu in the village. There are some beautiful walks to explore in the area, including The Cistercian Way and Furness Way. The village of Lakeside, at the southern end of Lake Windermere, is 7 miles away. Here, you can hop on one of the heritage steam trains of the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, board one of the iconic steamers to cruise across the water, or visit the wonderful aquarium.
