Head down to the sheltered sandy beach of Readymoney Cove, just 6 miles if you take the ferry across the water. Little ones can find delight in rockpooling when the tide is out, and you can also visit St Catherine’s Castle, which you can walk to at under a mile from the cove via the Esplanade. Stay for an early dinner in Fowey before catching the ferry back to Polruan or drive along the coast to Polperro (6 miles) or Looe (12 miles) where you will find a charming selection of restaurants to visit.
